Job Location: 1905 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, WI 54401

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, expected to work the hours needed to meet job performance expectations

Job Summary:

Establish, coordinate and maintain an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of the bank, the holding company and related subsidiaries. Develop and maintain asset, liability, income and expense data as a basis for financial planning and decision making. Oversee disbursement of all funds by all departments, coordinate bank wide general ledger budgeting and maintain compliance with quarterly required SEC, bank and holding company regulatory reporting.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting and finance functions including: general ledger account reconciliation, official bank check reconciliation, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, due from banks reconciliation, suspense item reconciliation, payroll accounting and related tax reporting and other responsibilities. 
  • Prepare internal, external and regulatory financial reports. Coordinate with CFO financial information required to submit SEC and shareholder reports.
  • Review all expenditures to ensure the propriety of the amount, the appropriateness of the accounting treatment and the existence of proper authorization.  
  • Coordinate with the CFO and direct the budgeting process, develop projections of operating costs used in the budgeting process.
  • Oversee the preparation of management reports which compare actual versus planned budgetary performance. 
  • Maintain securities pledging records related to large deposit relationships and public funds.
  • Act as primary contact to coordinate document preparation and submission of financial information to external financial statement auditors, banking regulators and tax auditors.  
  • Prepare various financial statements and reports for the Board of Directors of and regulatory agencies and vendors.
  • Coordinate filing of quarterly and year-end informational tax filings with the IRS.
  • Perform related software usage procedures or provide monthly or quarterly information to vendors for outsourced accounting tasks such as mortgage servicing right accounting, asset-liability management simulations, payroll processing, and deposit reclassification procedures to minimize bank reserve requirements.
  • Act as secondary support/back up to CFO regarding management of bank's daily liquidity and cash flow position and conduct investment transactions in conjunction with the CFO as needed.
  • Serve as the expert resource for accounting inquires and solutions. 
  • Assist in other special projects as requested by the Chief Financial Officer.

Desirable Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Four year bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
  • CPA required. 
  • Banking industry experience preferred; including tax, audit and mergers and acquisitions. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Thorough knowledge of PC applications, including spreadsheets, word processing and database management.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Good verbal communication skills as evidenced by the ability to interact both face to face and over the telephone with co-workers.  Demonstrated ability to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with co-workers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
