Job Location: 1905 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, WI 54401

Hours: Monday - Friday 8-5 with routine before or after hours efforts to perform system and application upgrades and project deadlines 

Job Summary:

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Information Technology/Information Security Officer will work closely with the COO in implementing the strategic direction of the technology, processes and systems as indicated by the board and senior management team. Oversee the Information Technology department, prioritize workloads and direct day to day tasks of the systems administration and technical support teams. Ensure the availability and security of the information on all servers and PC's including the core banking system components. Provide oversight and direction of the support to all end users on matters relating to personal computers, printers, servers and online activities to improve the effectiveness of their efforts. Manage IT security risks as it relates to maintaining audits, exams and SOX 404 requirements while leading the IT Steering Committee. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the COO and IT staff in researching, evaluating, and recommending new systems and applications to solve business problems, enhance efficiency, improve quality and the effectiveness of our staff.
  • Ensure a culture of learning and growth within the IT team by implementing a philosophy of open communication and feedback with effective and consistent organization and communication that allows the entire department to know the current and future state plans for the organization.
  • Supervise and direct the IT staff to perform day-to-day systems administration activities, server builds, PC support, network, cybersecurity, phone system, application installation, patching and updating of application software.
  • Lead and develop the IT team through mentoring, coaching, education and training. 
  • Instill an agile mindset and continuous improvement environment in a learning culture by empowering team to identify and implement change management and efficiency best practices daily.
  • Serve as liaison with vendors regarding the bank's data communication network.
  • Plan and schedule routine and emergency system maintenance with IT staff.
  • Use industry standard project management techniques to ensure that projects are completed on time, on budget and within scope.
  • Establish back up procedures, test and document the procedures on a routine basis for all technology components.  
  • Serve as security officer for local and wide area networks, PCs and servers including setting standards for security on our networks, PCs and servers by working with our cybersecurity partners and ID administration. 
  • Responsible for implementing, managing and enforcing information security directives as mandated by GLBA.
  • Ensure that the access control, disaster recovery, business continuity, incident response and risk management needs of the organization are properly addressed. 
  • Lead information security awareness and training initiatives to educate workforce about information risks and best practices. 
  • Perform ongoing information risk assessments and audits to ensure that information systems are adequately protected and meet GLBA certification requirements. 
  • Work with vendors, outside consultants and other third parties to improve information security within the organization. 
  • Ensure best practices are being followed, documented and communicated for all compliance and regulatory needs by partnering with our compliance and audit teams.
  • Lead an incident response team to contain, investigate and prevent future computer security breaches.
  • Document standards and procedures and provide this and other information to examiners and auditors.
  • Ensure end-users are supported in the efforts to meet customer expectations. Meet periodically with IT staff and internal business teams in an open forum allowing a free exchange of ideas, solutions and knowledge.
  • Participation in community events and activities to support Pride in Peoples.

Desirable Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or other related fields.  
  • 5-6 years working in IT and/or operations within a financial institution.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience a plus. 
  • Must be innovative, well organized and analytical.
  • Strong project management, team building and communication skills.
